Whether your a beginner or advanced cello player, you are welcome to join us to learn how to play the cello, improve technique and repertoire, and enjoy music making.
Our cello Teaching Artist, David Chentian, has a deep understanding of how to teach students of different levels. David has performed as a soloist, recitalist, symphony orchestra musician and chamber musician across North America and Asia, including various performances at Strand-Capital Performing Arts Center, Roland E. Powell Convention Center, Dundalk John E. Ravekes Theatre and many other notable places.
David completed his Bachelor of Music degree with academic honors from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, studying with cello professor Min Cao. He received his Master of Music degree and Graduate Performance degree from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where he studied with Amit Peled and BSO principal Dariusz Skoraczewski. In addition, he had the privilege of studying with some of the greatest cellists in the world, such as Houston Symphony Associate Principal Christopher French, Rice University cello professor Desmond Hoebig and Manhattan School of Music cello professor David Geber.
Recently David adjudicated concerto competition sponsored my Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association.
David is very excited to join the faculty at Alina’s Music Studio.
